New Students

The Department of Biology and the School of Science work hard to make new students feel at home on campus. Starting with enrollment counseling, and followed by Office of Orientation Services, students have the opportunity to meet, work with, and get to know our staff, faculty, and advisors.

Orientation will introduce you to the IUPUI campus, student activities, and support services. Whether this is your first college experience or you are transferring from another university, we are here to ensure you have everything you need for the first day.

Placement Testing

Prior to orientation, all new biology students are required to take the math and chemistry placements exams and the English guided self-placement.

• Schedule your math and chemistry placement tests by call the testing center at 317-274-2620. You can find information about the location and times for placement exams here: http://tc.iupui.edu/testing/students/faq/faq.asp.
• Take the online English self-placement test here: http://english.uc.iupui.edu/.  

International students must show English proficiency before admission. Information about English language requirements is available on the IUPUI International Affairs site.
