    Distinguished Professor Alexander Its at IUPUI receives IU President's Medal for Excellence

    IUPUI Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar presented the medal to Its on behalf of IU President Michael A. McRobbie at the annual Academic Excellence Dinner on Oct. 24.

    "This latest honor adds to the many accolades reflecting the tremendous contributions that Dr. Its has made to the discipline of mathematics at IUPUI and around the world," Paydar said. "To present the award to him on behalf of President McRobbie was a privilege I will never forget."

    CS grad students take second place in Indiana Medicaid Data Challenge

    INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI team of Wen-Hao Chiang, Junfeng Liu, Ziwei Fan and Bo Peng under the guidance of Computer Science Assistant Professor, Dr. Xia Ning presented a comprehensive pattern analysis for new insight to better support future Medicaid program and public health decisions. They integrated the aggregated Medicaid information data of the past five years with third-party data from multiple sources, including the local census and economic data on county levels and city levels and incorporated machine-learning techniques in their analysis.
